Job Description

As a Mechanic Technician, you will perform preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on trailers, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards. You will diagnose and repair air brake systems, electrical/lighting, suspensions, landing gear, doors, floors, and frames. Additionally, you will conduct wheel-end service and tire repairs/replacements, complete structural repairs, and utilize diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, and service software to document work orders accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on trailers.
• Diagnose and repair air brake systems, electrical/lighting, suspensions, landing gear, doors, floors, and frames.
• Conduct wheel-end service and tire repairs/replacements.
• Complete structural repairs, including minor welding/cutting and patching.
• Use diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, and service software for accurate documentation.
• Identify parts needs and coordinate with parts team to source/order components.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all safety and environmental procedures.
• Support urgent/emergency repairs and assist with on-site/yard calls as needed.
• Collaborate with supervisors and dispatch to prioritize equipment and reduce out-of-service time.

Essential Skills

• 1–3+ years of experience as a Trailer Mechanic, Diesel/Heavy Equipment Tech, or similar role.
• Strong working knowledge of air brake systems, electrical (12V), suspensions, and trailer chassis.
• Ability to read and follow work orders, service manuals, and wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Own a standard set of mechanic’s hand tools.

This is a Permanent position based out of North Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $60320.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in North Charleston,SC.
