Job Title: Mechanic

Job Description

As a Mechanic, you will ensure the smooth operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines. You will follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions and maintain equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on production machines following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Dismantle, move, assemble, install, weld, and repair industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
  • Use hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools to dismantle equipment and machines; move machinery using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assemble and install equipment such as conveyors using hand and power tools, construct foundations, and align machines.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for problems using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools.
  • Control downtime through effective routine preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Set up and operate machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts.
  • Travel to other locations may be required.
  • Other work may be assigned at management's direction.

Essential Skills

  • Troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing maintenance.
  • Understanding blueprints and schematics.
  • Operating machinery or fabricating equipment.
  • Knowledge of diesel, electrical systems, repair, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance techniques.
  • Proficiency in welding and using 3-phase motors, wiring, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Mechanical/Electrical assembly skills.

Work Environment

You will be working in a heavy manufacturing environment, which involves handling industrial machinery and equipment. The role may require travel to other locations and the use of various hand and power tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ghent, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
