• This is a part-time position. The selected candidate can either work three eight hour days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday preferred) or five shorter days per week.
• This position is onsite in Maywood, IL.
Overview & Responsibilities
Work with a leading firm in the energy and utilities industry as a Materials Technician within their specialized forensic lab. In this role, you will serve as the administrative backbone for the lab’s material intake process, ensuring that failed equipment from the field is properly received, logged, and prepared for engineering analysis. • Receive and check-in materials, including logging, tracking, and staging items for analysis.
• Review and complete failed/defective material tags to ensure all engineering data is accurate.
• Coordinate the pickup and delivery of failed materials across 23 different regional offices ("barns").
• Maintain electronic records and trackers using Microsoft Office to monitor the status of incoming assets.
• Ensure the lab environment and storage areas remain organized and safe.
• Follow up with field offices to account for missing or delayed deliveries.
Required Qualifications
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with various internal teams.
• Willingness to learn; no specific prior experience or degree is required as on-site training is provided.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in a lab, manufacturing, or "dirty" office environment.
• Experience in administrative roles requiring asset tracking or inventory coordination.
• Ability to work a consistent Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday schedule (though other arrangements can be considered).
