Pay Range: $65,000–$75,000

Position Summary

The Material Planner is responsible for planning, regulating, and maintaining machine parts and inventory levels to support daily production schedules. This role ensures that each day’s planned run of parts occurs without interruption by forecasting needs, managing supplier relationships, and coordinating closely with Production Control and Manufacturing leadership.

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan part parameters to meet corporate inventory goals
  • Manage and coordinate a large number of suppliers and vendors
  • Oversee high-volume daily part requirements
  • Monitor supplier performance for timely shipments and material availability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve supplier or material issues
  • Expedite parts due to discrepancies, quality issues, or shortages
  • Coordinate and follow up on purchase orders
  • Monitor delivery schedules and review order accuracy
  • Track production rates and raw material pricing; communicate with vendors as needed
  • Maintain inventory levels and availability of manufactured or purchased items
  • Identify and resolve scheduling issues that could delay production
  • Partner with manufacturing, purchasing, and supervisory teams on material status
  • Forecast demand to ensure production deadlines and goals are met
  • Determine appropriate inventory levels to prevent overstock
  • Conduct periodic inventory checks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
  • 3+ years of material planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to pass required drug screens, background checks, and pre-employment testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • International supply chain experience
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory control, planning, or expediting in manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Ability to manage delivery of production parts across 40+ suppliers and 1,200+ part numbers
  • Proactive response to shortages to prevent production downtime

Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional work in a manufacturing/factory environment
  • Exposure to noise and temperature variations

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Must frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
