Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description

The Material Handler supports production and warehouse operations by safely handling, moving, and preparing materials, managing recycling and waste, and ensuring accurate inventory flow. This role involves frequent heavy lifting, consistent physical activity, and close adherence to safety and operational procedures in a high-security, ESD-regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collect recycling items from production areas and ensure they are handled according to established procedures.
  • Sort and separate cardboard and other recyclable materials from general waste.
  • Sort through recycling and trash bins to ensure proper disposal and recycling of materials.
  • Transport recycling items from collection bins to designated containers or areas.
  • Load and offload pallets from trailers using appropriate material-handling methods and equipment.
  • Stage materials in designated warehouse lanes as instructed to support efficient workflow.
  • Move materials to production and other locations within the facility as required.
  • Package and unpack materials as needed to support production and shipping activities.
  • Examine items for defects, wear, or damage and document findings accurately.
  • Report damaged stock and issues to warehouse leadership and maintain records of damaged stock.
  • Maintain records of damaged material-handling equipment and promptly report issues for repair.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned to support warehouse and production operations.
  • Move racks from staging areas to loading racks in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform systematic scanning for approximately 10% of the shift using RF scanner or similar devices.
  • Load a high volume of racks throughout the shift, accounting for approximately 90% of the work time.
  • Follow defined methods and sequence of operations when unpacking and preparing components.
  • Focus on detrashing, recycling, and material preparation as a primary responsibility for designated roles.
  • Perform heavy lifting for the majority of the shift, with frequent handling of items up to 50 pounds.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods while performing material-handling tasks.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively on ladders when required.
  • Manual dexterity to handle materials, packaging, and equipment accurately.
  • Ability to work under close supervision and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and support team goals.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Experience with loading and unloading trucks in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Experience using RF scanners for systematic scanning and inventory-related tasks.
  • Experience with order picking, packaging, and unpacking materials.
  • Experience as a material handler with a focus on detrashing, recycling, and material preparation.
  • Ability to perform frequent heavy lifting for approximately 95% of the shift.
  • Ability to meet screening requirements, including the 50-pound lifting requirement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Experience with inventory processes and basic inventory control.
  • Familiarity with staging materials in warehouse lanes and supporting production flow.
  • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with close supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail when examining items for defects, wear, or damage.

Work Environment

The role is based in an ESD-regulated, high-security facility where adherence to safety and security protocols is essential. No personal electronics are allowed in the production area to maintain security and protect sensitive equipment. Team members wear smocks and ESD straps as part of the required dress code and safety standards. The work involves standing for long periods, frequent heavy lifting, and moving materials and racks throughout the shift in a fast-paced warehouse and production setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
