Job Title: Material Handler

Starting Pay: $20/hr plus OT available

Location: Charlotte, NC


Schedule- M-F 7:30am-4pm


  • Warehouse, Waste, Forklift, shipping & receiving
  • Must have Forklift exp
  • This position will be dealing with 10 day transfer waste that are collected and then processed at a warehouse.
  • The 10 day storage is a drum pad that is organized and coordinated for shipments
  • They have 20 bays at the facility


As a Material Handler you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision.


Essential Functions & Requirements:

  1. Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
  • Loads, unloads and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations
  • Operates a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments
  • Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage
  • Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed
  • Perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues
  • Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities
  • Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials
  • Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites
  • Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks
  • Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials
  • Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition
  • Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations
  • Utilizes coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers
  • Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent (required)


Experience:

  • 1+ years of related experience (required)
  • 40 hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred)
