Position Overview
The Master Technician for Maintenance is a senior-level hands-on maintenance professional responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and reliability of critical process and utility equipment within a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, hygienic process systems, valves, pumps, and clean utility infrastructure while providing technical expertise and guidance to junior technicians and other stakeholders. The Master Technician executes precision maintenance activities, leads complex mechanical troubleshooting, ensures equipment is maintained in a validated and inspection-ready state; in addition to emphasizing mechanical craft excellence, failure-based troubleshooting, precision rebuild and alignment practices, and GMP-compliance execution and documentation.
Job Description
What You’ll Do
•Mechanical SME and Mentorship: Serves as the technical expert and trains or coaches other technicians while leading on-shift activities to drive operational success•Precision Repairs & Rebuilds: Executes precision mechanical repairs and rebuilds; and performs assembly swap and rotating spare change-outs of pumps (e.g., centrifugal, diaphragm, peristaltic), valves (ASEPCO, diaphragm, control valves), bioreactors, centrifuges, clean steam and WFI systems, seal replacements, bearings, alignment, couplings, and gaskets•Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Executes failure-mode based PMs, performs vibration awareness, temperature monitoring, leak detection, and identifies bad actors and recurring failures•Troubleshooting & Reliability: Leads failure investigations, supports root cause analysis (RCA), and partners with Reliability Engineering•Installation & Commissioning: Installs and aligns equipment, supports commissioning, qualification & validation activities, and provides startup support•Safety & Risk: Executes lockout tagout (LOTO), manages stored energy hazards, and identifies and escalates unsafe conditions to champion a culture of safety and quality•GMP & Collaboration: Communicates effectively with peers and cross-functionally to drive results and ensure equipment and areas are in audit-ready state with complete and accurate GMP documentation•Performs other duties, as assignedKnowledge & Skills
