Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be involved in the fabrication and assembly of mechanical components for larger assemblies. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to work with advanced technology and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of duties related to the fabrication or assembly of mechanical components for larger assemblies.
- Set up and test complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
- Analyze data and recommend modifications to components or test procedures to meet desired specifications.
- Assist mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, and fabrication of assemblies and components.
- Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers on set-up and calibration tasks, rework, and quality testing.
- Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct online adjustments to products, instruments, or equipment.
- Determine and assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
- Handle and manage fragile composite materials.
- Notate usage, traceability, pot life, and out time controls on all adhesive materials used.
- Bond, prep, and bond composite structures to metallic fittings.
- Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware.
- Report data and interface with other employees and departments.
- Read and understand manufacturing/engineering drawings and shop planning.
- Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.
Essential Skills
- Must be a ITAR Compliant
- High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of additional education and/or related experience.
- Ability to read, write, and work to instructions written in English.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to be on feet for various hours each day.
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and different shifts based on demanding manufacturing schedules.
- Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.
- Ability to navigate and operate within a Microsoft Office Environment (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Demonstrated Mechanical Ability.
- Ability to read and follow directions on engineering drawings and/or schematics.
- Familiarity with proper hand tool technique and safety (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.).
- Familiarity with the concept of Torque.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a composites/manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace manufacturing environment).
- Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Experience or familiarity with industry requirements, standards, and compliance issues.
- Experience with cranes and rigging, forklifts, and similar manufacturing equipment.
- Proficient use of electronic test equipment such as DC power supplies, Digital Multimeters, and Source Meters.
Work Environment
The position operates on the 2nd shift, from 2 PM to 12 AM. The work environment involves working with advanced manufacturing equipment and requires adherence to safety protocols. The role demands flexibility with hours and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oxnard, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
