Job Title: Manufacturing Technician

Job Description

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will be responsible for testing, modifying, reworking, and repairing mechanical and electronic assemblies. You will be involved in the fabrication and validation of critical flight hardware, which includes mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and flight Ground Support Equipment in accordance with flight drawings, procedures, quality standards, and internal training. You will assist engineers in the manufacture and testing of flight and prototype hardware, as well as in the development of test infrastructure and documentation of assembly and test procedures. Your role also includes identifying and communicating non-conformances to engineering and quality assurance, collaborating with facilities and maintenance to ensure timely equipment maintenance and repair, and working with manufacturing engineering to optimize manufacturing orders and clarify process instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, modifying, reworking, and repairing of mechanical and electronic assemblies.
  • Fabricate and validate critical flight hardware, including mechanical and electrical assembly, and flight Ground Support Equipment.
  • Assist engineers in the manufacture and test infrastructure development of flight/prototype hardware.
  • Document assembly and test procedures and other specified tasks.
  • Identify and communicate non-conformances to engineering and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with facilities and maintenance for timely equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering to optimize manufacturing orders and ensure process instructions are understood.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in reading and working from blueprints, drawings, and detailed procedures.
  • Experience in electrical and non-electrical manufacturing of large and small equipment.
  • Proficiency with hand tools including crimpers, drills, taps, torque wrenches, power tools, and air tools.
  • Ability to learn to work with adhesives, chemical cleaners, coating materials, and other commonly used manufacturing chemicals.
  • Capability to take direction from multiple sources and manage time to meet daily milestones and long-term project commitments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent plus advanced training.
  • At least 2 years of prior experience in an Aerospace manufacturing setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, good fabrication skills, and general shop experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands for objects, tools, or controls, and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR regulations.
  • Willingness to travel to local vendors and suppliers as required.
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, occasional weekends, and some late days to meet shipping dates.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a cleanroom setting with working hours from Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. You will be part of a leading developer and provider of solar array systems to the global space market, working on key products such as Roll Out and Rigid Solar Arrays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goleta, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
