Manufacturing Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop priorities, budgets, schedules, and quality control processes
  • Oversee production to meet demand safely, efficiently, and at quality standards
  • Coordinate daily manufacturing activities to meet volume, cost, waste, and timeline targets
  • Manage raw material inventory, including scheduling and returns
  • Monitor and adjust production processes to optimize output and resource use
  • Analyze production data to drive improvements and reduce lead times (JIT environment)
  • Track, report, and ensure alignment with KPI targets
  • Supervise staff and ensure safe operation of equipment and completion of tasks
  • Ensure machinery maintenance and production schedules are followed
  • Lead supervisors, leads, and associates; oversee performance and compliance
  • Manage hiring, scheduling, performance, corrective actions, and separations
  • Maintain training documentation and ensure regulatory compliance (safety, quality, equipment)
  • Support budgeting, strategic planning, and process improvements
  • Develop and maintain SOPs; ensure adherence to production, labeling, and quality standards
  • Communicate updates, issues, and progress to senior management; resolve production challenges
  • Manage daily departmental communication on production and staffing
  • Support company goals, training programs, and EHS initiatives
  • Exercise independent judgment in departmental operations and decision-making
  • Ensure teams meet performance targets and operational goals
  • Maintain flexible schedule (40+ hours/week, including nights and weekends)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Cannabis Regulation (State & Local): Demonstrates advanced knowledge of regulations governing the cannabis industry to minimize compliance-related risks.
  • Policy & Procedure: Consistently models and supports accountability to company policies and procedures to shape the overall efficiency and effectiveness to the department's operations
  • Documentation & Data Integrity: Manages input, organization, maintenance, and timeliness of data into designated systems/databases to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Financial Literacy: Makes effective business decisions by leveraging a strong understanding of KPI's to drive and accomplish financial goals.
  • Mobilization: Effectively rallies individuals and teams with urgency to drive and achieve desired goals.

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years supervisory/leadership experience with 2 years production experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry concepts and principles.
  • Requires proven experience with relevant business practices, procedures, and compliance requirements in the cannabis industry.
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Docs) keyboarding skills, 10-key speed of at least 40 WPM with minimal errors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.
  • Performs complex tasks typically following established processes.
  • Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.


Requirements:

  • Must be over 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to work at least 40 hours a week. Flexible availability to work both day and night shifts.
  • May perform activities that include periods of rigorous, repetitive work.

  • Ability to stand for part of the shift.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and/or working on a computer.
  • Be able to stand, bend, kneel, squat, and twist for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift 40 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • Must be able to stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, bend, kneel, squat, and twist.

This role operates in a cannabis manufacturing setting where exposure to fine plant particles, such as dust from grinding or trimming, is common. The company provides all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain safety and comfort while working in this environment
