Manufacturing Engineer (System Integration)

Compal
Austin, Texas Metropolitan Area

Position Summary

Compal Electronics is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer (System Integration) to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and server system manufacturing at our Austin facility. This role is intentionally floor-focused and execution-driven, especially in the early stages of the operation.

The initial expectation is for this engineer to help build the manufacturing line end-to-end from line design and equipment installation to actively supporting and building alongside production teams. Once operations are stabilized, the role will gradually transition toward process optimization, system design, and more office-based engineering work.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup-style manufacturing environment, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and wants direct ownership of how server systems are built on the factory floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead NPI project development, including feasibility analysis and evaluation of line layout, capacity planning, process flow, PFMEA, DFX, equipment, fixtures, and automation
  • Design, set up, and launch system integration manufacturing lines, with hands-on involvement in equipment installation and line bring-up
  • Perform mechanical system integration, including BOM validation, cable routing, and mechanical build verification
  • Actively support early production builds by working directly on the manufacturing floor alongside technicians and operators
  • Integrate and validate complete server systems to ensure mechanical and system-level compliance
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and standard work documentation; train production line staff as needed
  • Define and manage NPI processes and flow charts, track execution, and ensure smooth NPI ramp
  • Research and support implementation of new manufacturing processes and emerging technologies, including liquid cooling (DLC), AI server production, and advanced system integration techniques
  • Define and implement standard procedures to improve production quality, efficiency, and consistency
  • Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting of system integration and production line issues
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to improve yield, reduce defects, and stabilize output
  • Validate and implement ECN/ECR firmware and hardware changes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and throughput
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing engineering or system integration engineering, preferably in electronics, servers, or complex systems
  • Strong hands-on experience supporting production line setup, bring-up, or NPI
  • Familiarity with FATP (Final Assembly, Test, and Pack) manufacturing processes
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous, or early-stage manufacturing environments
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with server or AI system manufacturing
  • Exposure to liquid cooling systems or advanced thermal solutions
  • Experience working in an ODM manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience supporting line launches or factory ramp-ups
