Description
· Support new product development – collaborate with others to provide input regarding manufacturability of design, define requirements for assembly processes including materials, fixturing, tooling, testing/inspection, workflow, labor and material costs and assist production team with prototype assembly completion
· Assist Production Supervisor in providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and resolving production process issues related to slip ring and related component assembly.
· Assist design engineering team as needed and specifically with Design for Manufacturing principles, project preparation and implementation, process documentation, quotation preparation, inventory organization/control, and any other production related issues relating to product design.
· Technical lead and implementor of assembly and machining efficiency, ergonomics, and automation improvements.
· Support Manufacturing 4.0 and other continuous improvement initiatives
· Other projects and duties as assigned by Operations Manager
Requirements
EDUCATION - bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE - Minimum three (3) years of experience in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering or the combined equivalent of education and experience required. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
SKILLS - Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills are essential to effectively collect and disseminate information with customers, suppliers, and employees at all levels of the organization. Must be professional, organized, and analytic. Sound knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles, trouble shooting, and root-cause analysis abilities are essential. Computer proficiency with Excel and MS Office is required. The ability to think critically, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent assignments in an ever-changing environment while meeting established goals, time, and budgetary constraints is essential. \
PHYSICAL - Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficiently to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations. Possess specific vision abilities including near vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus (with corrective lenses if necessary), and ability to distinguish color to perform the requirements of the position. Lifting up to 50 lbs. is required.
MENTAL - Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently and possess the ability to communicate clearly on technical and business levels while maintaining professional conduct is essential. The ability to handle frequent interruptions, priority shifts, and manage multi-functional projects is essential.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Manufacturing Engineer will primarily work in a plant office setting which is a temperature controlled, smoke free environment that also has typical factory hazards including noise, dust, solvents, tripping hazards, and hazards common to machining of parts such as sharp objects, unfinished surfaces, metal shavings and slivers. Fabricast, Inc. functions in a real market environment that changes at various times of the year which occasionally may create high output or greater time pressure demands. This is an exempt position and completion of duties regardless of the number of hours or number of days worked per week is expected. Office hours will vary according to business demands and occasional travel may be required. Supporting both the first shift and alternative shift/overtime hours (if applicable) will be required at times.
Schedule: Full-time, Tuesday through Friday, 5:30 am to 4:00 pm; hours may vary based on business demand and overtime requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:

· Support new product development – collaborate with others to provide input regarding manufacturability of design, define requirements for assembly processes including materials, fixturing, tooling, machining/CNC, testing/inspection, workflow, labor and material costs and assist production team with prototype build completion
· Assist Production Supervisor in providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and resolving production process issues related to slip ring assembly
· Support continuous improvement initiatives that maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce overall cost while meeting Fabricast quality standards, customer specifications, and operator safety
· Create work instructions, and ensure accurate documentation for all assembly processes
· Write justifications and submit capital request documents to obtain new machines and equipment
· Maintain familiarity with quality documents (such as PFMEA) and make sure any assigned actions are documented
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge and participate in training opportunities relating to technology developments, continuous improvement, Manufacturing 4.0, etc.
· Consistently and effectively identify, manage, and complete multiple responsibilities accurately, timely and within budget including communication and follow through on task information, status, and responses or questions to the appropriate people
· Follow rules and processes as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality Manual and Safety training regarding conduct and performance standards expected of all employees
· Demonstrate collaborative working relationships, good judgment, reasoning and professional conduct in all business interactions, representing Fabricast favorably with customers, suppliers, and employees
· Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position and situation
· Demonstrate physical, regular, and punctual attendance and communicate scheduled and unscheduled absences in advance
· Perform other duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
