Location: Orlando, FL (On‑site)

Position Summary:

The Senior Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and provides technical expertise to design, develop, and implement manufacturing systems, processes, and tooling. This role supports the fabrication and production of precision electronic components, including frequency control and spectrum control devices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain manufacturing processes including welding, soldering, lead forming, and related assembly operations.
  • Apply engineering tools and statistical methods to sustain and improve process capability.
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing techniques to enhance material flow and reduce cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Participate in collaborative design efforts to ensure new products meet customer specifications for materials and finishes.
  • Recommend mechanical design approaches for machining, plating, joining, and other processes while ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Assist in managing new component requirements for electronic and mechanical parts.
  • Generate production‑level documentation and procedures.
  • Create and interpret simulation models using SolidWorks to analyze structural, thermal, and dynamic behavior of components and assemblies.
  • Specify and initiate the purchase of manufacturing tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Plan, justify, and manage capital equipment expenditures.
  • Lead product and process improvement teams.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional engineering groups in a concurrent engineering environment.
  • Supervise none directly, but assist and mentor manufacturing engineering interns as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Hands‑on role requiring interaction across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with hand‑assembled soldered components is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Minitab, and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft AX) is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining, lathe, wire EDM, and other machine tools.
  • Knowledge of electroplating materials (nickel, silver, etc.).
  • Proficiency in CNC programming using Mastercam is preferred.
  • Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license; eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance is required.

Education, Experience, and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, machine controls, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to safely climb, descend, and work from ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms at varying heights.
  • Work is performed in a combination of office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by‑products.
