Manufacturing Engineer

Terra Sonic International is a rapidly growing company specializing in the dynamic and diverse sonic drilling industry. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support our Assembly operations. The Manufacturing Engineer contributes to the organization through collaboration with assembly technicians, design engineers, and suppliers to develop worldclass assembly processes. Additional areas of responsibility include elevating quality levels, product throughput, and cost competitiveness of assembled products.


Responsibilities


Integrate world-class assembly practices into Terra Sonic's manufacturing processes.

  • Optimize cell layout for assembly operations.
  • Streamline the flow of components from inventory to assembly operations.
  • Create an intuitive product flow between sub assembly and final assembly operations.
  • Design processes that are responsive to changes in demand and/or product mix.


Collaborate with various manufacturing disciplines to:

  • Identify critical quality control points throughout the build cycle.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure purchased items support efficient assembly operations.
  • Facilitate the adoption of Design for Manufacturability.
  • Lead the manufacture of new products / accessories.
  • Capture and integrate tacit knowledge into new methods.


Refine the feedback loop from product testing to assembly operations.

  • Create / maintain work instructions for all assembled products.
  • Develop standardized work practices in support of reliable labor estimates.


Create time standards, product routings, and bills of materials in ERP.

  • Establish benchmark setup and run times for labor operations.
  • Create part routings from engineering drawings and specifications.


Lead Capital Expenditure projects from conception through implementation.

  • Identify equipment, software, and/or plant improvements that will reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Document a business case for an investment, to include payback period, NPV, and IRR.


Lead continuous improvement projects.

  • Deploy LSS principles to eliminate waste and reduce process variation.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on cost, quality, speed, flexibility, and dependability.


Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of prior experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Associate's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline — Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related.
  • Experience with ERP, CAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
