Job Description
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. As the manager system security, you will lead our security team and ensure the highest standards of safety and security. Your strategic vision and leadership will be instrumental in protecting our community and assets.
Experience
- 7 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, safety or EMS in a supervisory or leadership capacity
- Experience with healthcare regulatory bodies
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of healthcare management preferred
- Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) through International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) preferred
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through Advancing Security Worldwide (ASIS)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in security, law enforcement, military, safety or EMS
Certification Summary
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) supervisor certification within 12 months of employment or upon internal transfer, if Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) certification not already obtained.

Job Responsibilities
Security Operations Management:
- Develop, implement, and manage hospital-wide security protocols, post orders, and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate security operations, identifying risks and mitigating threats.
- Oversee operations and maintenance of security equipment, such as surveillance systems and access control.
Leadership and Supervision:
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise security staff to ensure adherence to hospital policies and regulations.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
- Address team members disciplinary matters in coordination with Human Resources.
Business Operations and Metrics:
- Develop, track, and analyze security performance metrics, including incident response times, risk mitigation, and compliance audits.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to improve security processes and reduce operational inefficiencies.
- Manage the security department budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Identify and implement best practices to maximize the return on investment for security program and technology.
Emergency Preparedness and Response:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring readiness for incidents such as active shooter scenarios, natural disasters, and patient disturbances.
- Serve as the point of contact during crises, coordinating with law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Joint Commission standards related to hospital safety and security.
- Maintain detailed records and reports of security incidents, investigations, and audits.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and internal audits to identify vulnerabilities.
Interdepartmental Collaboration:
- Collaborate with hospital leadership, nursing, and administrative teams to ensure security measures support clinical and operational needs.
- Address security concerns of patients, families, and staff with sensitivity and professionalism.
