eBay Motors is a dynamic, multi-billion dollar global portfolio encompassing Parts & Accessories (P&A), Business & Industrial, Vehicles, and WHI—a B2B Parts & Accessories marketplace in the US. These categories are not only pivotal to eBay’s strategic future but are also at the forefront of market innovation and transformation. We are looking to hire a Manager of Strategy and Operations, located in Austin, TX who will support eBay’s US Parts & Accessories (P&A) business and play an instrumental role in accelerating growth. The role will be part of the US P&A Strategy & Operations team. Specifically, the role will focus on driving growth in key Parts & Accessories initiatives, while also contributing to regular business review cadences for the Global P&A business. The role will utilize data and business case development to develop strategic insights and lead execution of key initiatives with key partners, while ensuring operational excellence in planning, analytics, reporting, and collaboration across a broad cross-functional team. Our key partners include product, analytics, finance, monetization, account management, and business development, among many others.
The role demands a dual mentality: both that of a strategic leader—who has a deep understanding of the dynamics of two-sided marketplaces, can break down tough problems into clear frameworks, operate in ambiguity, and possesses strong data intuition and executive-ready communications—as well as someone who can move quickly and decisively as an embedded operator not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Responsibilities
Identify and execute greenfield opportunities across US P&A that require strategic assessment
Drive progress against milestones for key strategic initiatives
Create operational consistency, processes, and alignment across the US P&A business and its partners
Establish processes and guardrails to ensure operational success
Build and own executive-ready presentations on US P&A strategic initiatives and operational updates
Conduct adhoc analysis to answer critical business questions, leveraging SQL and first-/third-party research as needed
Understand and summarize weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual business performance
Collaborate with cross-functional partners; ensure alignment with other eBay verticals, other eBay teams, and global initiatives
Qualifications
Strong analytical and strategy skills, including structured thinking, synthesizing, distilling key insights from data, conducting research, and creating a compelling storyline/ narrative
High degree of ownership and commitment to results, self-motivated
Executive level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present compelling narratives backed by data and research
Demonstrated ability to project manage a group of peers and lead through influence
Strong ability to synthesize and visualize data and strategic insights and business case financial and operational modeling via PowerPoint and Excel
Organized problem solver who balances attention to detail with efficiency
Ability to operate in a small, nimble, and impactful team
Strong cross-functional leader who is also recognized as a collaborator and partner
Ambition to grow professionally and willingness to work hard, learn/adapt, and provide feedback both upward and to peer teams
Requirements
4.5+ years of related experience, including 2+ years at a top-tier management consulting firm, investment bank, or in a strategy & planning role at a major corporation
Industry experience in consumer goods, retail, e-commerce, or consumer tech
Strong SQL proficiency preferred
Interest and/or experience in Motors a plus, but not required
BA/BS required, MBA or similar graduate degree preferred
Additional Details
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$92,800 - $160,200Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
