The Manager of Central Sterile Supply coordinates and monitors all sterile processing functions such as decontamination, preparation/packaging, sterilization of surgical instruments, ordering supplies, storage of materials, medical supplies usage and storage and inventory control. Responsible for first line supervision of all Central Sterile activities, staff scheduling, shift management and the coordination of surgical instruments and supplies to the operating rooms.
Duties include: demonstrating skill in application of decontamination, preparation and sterilization technique. Utilizes recommended standards to identify areas of improvement in all phases of the process. Ability to perform every task in the decontamination, preparation and sterilization areas. Demonstrates high standard of management, people and team skills, including the ability to lead a team to achieve quality outcomes within time budgets and timeframes. Demonstrates ability and willingness to motivate, mentor staff and develop good working relationships with customers and team members. Demonstrates skill and understands the operating room case schedule and is able to adjust staffing and tasks according to caseload. Independently is able to prioritize the workload accordingly. Establish and implement methods and best practices related to the systems and process that support inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control. Ensures goods and services are ordered in a timely manner by processing requisitions, confirming price and shipping terms, delivery date and order. Establishes par levels for all supplies and requisitions inventory through the CS purchasing information system. Communicates daily with surgical staff, scheduler, surgery management, vendors, and physicians to ensure availability of supplies for scheduled cases. Participates in physical inventory count according to best practice. Other related duties as required.
