Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Night Shift)
Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining and repairing production and facility equipment during a 12-hour night shift in an industrial environment. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently while following all safety and facility work rules.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all production and facility equipment in full operating condition to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
  • Monitor and maintain soap percentages at appropriate levels, making adjustments as needed to meet process requirements.
  • Practice safe work habits at all times and promptly report unsafe conditions or actions to the department supervisor or manager.
  • Calibrate production scales and process instruments when required to ensure accurate measurements and process control.
  • Read and interpret maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, electrical prints, and mechanical drawings to diagnose and repair issues correctly.
  • Adhere strictly to all Safety and Facility Work Rules while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Keep all tools accounted for, in good condition, and clean, ensuring they are stored properly after use.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas, ensuring that maintenance activities do not create safety hazards.
  • Perform assigned work correctly, efficiently, and within established time frames.
  • Maintain equipment according to CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) requirements and ensure work information is accurate and up to date in the system.
  • Notify the manager of any corrections or additions needed in CMMS records to maintain accurate maintenance history and documentation.
  • Book spare part inventory items properly to maintain accurate stock levels and support efficient repairs.
  • Lift and manage items up to 75 lbs (35 kgs) as required for maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment using knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and electrical systems including 3-phase power.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to reduce equipment failures and extend asset life.
  • Conduct mechanical repairs, including work on industrial machinery, rubber industry production equipment, and internal combustion engines.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment, including control systems and related components.
  • Troubleshoot and support PLC-controlled equipment as needed to restore operations.
  • Apply knowledge of welding, pipe fitting, conduit bending, and sheet metal fabrication to complete maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while also working independently when required.
  • Resolve conflicts in a professional manner consistent with established workplace policies and expectations.
Essential Skills
  • At least three years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment using hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including work with 3-phase power and electrical control systems.
  • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, electrical prints, and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write coherently in order to follow procedures and document work.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • High degree of concentration and strong troubleshooting aptitude.
  • Ability to visually identify color differences for troubleshooting, maintaining, or installing equipment.
  • Ability to lift and manage up to 75 lbs (35 kgs) safely as part of regular job duties.
  • Comfort working in environments with dust, fumes, chemicals (requiring safety mask), high noise levels, and varying temperatures including cold and heat.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electrical control systems used in industrial environments.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC equipment.
  • Familiarity with rubber industry production equipment and internal combustion engines.
  • Understanding of general industrial construction practices.
  • Skills in welding, pipe fitting, conduit bending, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Ability to use a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to record maintenance activities and update equipment history.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial setting.
  • Capability to resolve conflicts and interact professionally with colleagues and leadership.

Work Environment

This position is on the 3rd shift, working 7:45 p.m. to 5:45 a.m., four 10-hour days from Monday through Thursday. The role is based in an industrial plant environment that is not climate controlled and can be dirty in certain areas. You will work in conditions that may include exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals requiring the use of a safety mask, high noise levels, and temperature extremes such as heat and cold. The maintenance team works well together and supports one another, but you must also feel comfortable working independently and managing your own tasks during the shift. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and provided in line with safety and facility rules.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Statesville, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.
