Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Work Schedule / Shifts
- Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Schedule: 2-2-3 continental rotation (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on; alternating weekly)
- Includes weekends and holidays as part of the rotation
- Overtime may be required based on production needs
Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and continuously improving baking, packaging, and processing equipment, as well as site auxiliary systems. This role ensures all equipment operates safely and efficiently while supporting production uptime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of baking, packaging, and processing equipment
- Support and execute the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to reduce unplanned downtime
- Complete assigned work orders accurately and within established timeframes
- Assist with equipment changeovers, line startups, and operational troubleshooting
- Ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, and regulatory standards, including:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- OSHA guidelines
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- SQF and food safety programs
- Maintain spare parts inventory and identify required replacement components
- Participate in continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and cross-functional projects
- Collaborate with team members and support additional operational needs as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
Technical Skills & Experience
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience maintaining manufacturing equipment in an automated environment
- Hands-on experience with:
- PLC troubleshooting (preferred)
- Pneumatics, hydraulics, and compressed air systems
- Boilers and auxiliary systems
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Effective communication and attention to detail
Education
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in mechanics, electrical systems, or related field (preferred)
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts
- Lift up to 50+ lbs regularly
- Stand, walk, climb, stoop, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods
- Work in varying temperature environments typical of industrial bakery operations
- Ability to work in confined or awkward positions when necessary
Work Environment
- Primarily indoor industrial manufacturing setting
- Exposure to temperature variations, humidity, and occasional fumes or chemicals
- Frequent interaction with production equipment and moving machinery
