Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all plant equipment, buildings, and tools. The technician is responsible for providing preventative maintenance, including a safe and sanitary environment, to the plant and surrounding grounds. They perform routine maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and inspections to minimize downtime.

Office Environment: 3% of the work is conducted in an office setting, involving time spent on computer research, project management, and communication with team members and stakeholders. Frequent participation in both in-person and virtual meetings, including project updates, strategy sessions, and presentations to management and stakeholders.

Production Environment: 96% Regular visits to the production areas will involve exposure to machinery, noise, varying temperatures, humidity, and wet conditions.

Travel: <1% Occasional travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc.

Schedule: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on operational requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Learn set-up, operation, adjustments, and operating parameters of production equipment.
  2. Safety must be a priority. Remedy any unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
  3. Reconfigure electrical and water drops to improve esthetics, efficiency, and safety.
  4. Assess maintenance and repair problems with follow-up.
  5. Perform plumbing and electrical work and repair equipment when breakdowns occur to maintain production.
  6. Develop open communication with machine operators, department supervisors, and managers.
  7. Facilitate implementing a preventative maintenance schedule for production equipment.
  8. Build spare parts stock for normal wear items.
  9. Paint any necessary areas and repair aesthetic defects i.e. seals, hinges, hangers, etc. when production schedule allows.
  10. Develop a daily walk-through routine to spot and document possible problems.
  11. Be on call, as needed.
  12. Be a role model in projecting and applying company policies and department SOPs and promote teamwork at all times.
  13. Perform other duties, as assigned.


Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma or GED is required.
  2. Minimum three years related experience in electrical, single phase, 3 phase & programming, refrigeration, welding, fabrication, forklift, or building maintenance.
  3. Experience in Best Practices in Process Improvement.
  4. Industrial Refrigeration Certified.
  5. Experience working in a food processing environment is a plus.
  6. Fork-lift Certification is preferred.
  7. Strong mechanical, electrical, or technical aptitude.
  8. Strong Computer skills in MS Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel.
  9. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.


Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:

  1. Regular visits to production areas will involve exposure to machinery, high noise levels, varying temperatures, humidity, and wet conditions.
  2. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
  3. Ability to work around ingredients and/or finished products containing food allergens.
  4. Must be able to communicate through various channels, including phone, email, face-to-face, and videoconferencing.

At Cloverdale Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $20.00 - $33.00 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
