Maintenance Technician – Metal Stamping & Fabrication
Overview
Our client is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments. This role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting metal stamping presses, robotic welding cells, and fabrication equipment used in sheet metal and large skid production. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills and be comfortable supporting a fast-paced production operation. Flexibility to work any assigned shift is required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and filters, ensuring proper function and reliability.
Troubleshoot and repair metal stamping presses, addressing mechanical wear, sensor alignment, die setup, and clutch/brake systems.
Diagnose and resolve issues in robotic MIG welding cells by checking wire feed, gas flow, tip condition, grounding, and robot programming.
Maintain and service resistance spot welding systems, including tip dressing, water cooling, shunt condition, calibration, and weld schedule adjustments.
Troubleshoot PLC-based systems using laptops to read ladder logic, interpret I/O faults, and resolve control issues.
Maintain fabrication machinery such as press brakes, laser cutting machines, shears, and roll formers.
Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics to identify and correct equipment faults.
Support large-scale fabrication and skid-building projects by coordinating maintenance efforts to minimize downtime.
Carry out light welding, grinding, and fitting work in support of maintenance and repairs.
Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, proper guarding, and PPE compliance.
Document maintenance work and use CMMS tools to manage work orders and schedule repairs.
Communicate clearly with supervisors, production teams, and engineering staff regarding equipment status and recurring issues.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in metal fabrication, stamping, automotive, or heavy manufacturing environments.
Proven hands-on knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, sensors, PLC troubleshooting, and robotic welding equipment.
Experience with press brakes, laser cutters, and sheet metal fabrication machinery.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and machine manuals.
Proficiency with hand tools, multimeters, and diagnostic instruments.
Basic welding and fabrication ability (MIG/TIG experience is a plus).
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible shifts as production needs require.
