This is a highly skilled position requiring novice to advanced knowledge in general building maintenance, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, control system maintenance and operation, electricity, plumbing, and movable equipment. The skills required for this position will allow the incumbent to resolve repair issues independently with little to no supervision. Utilizes exceptional customer service and communication skills. This position will support the Mercy Center for Performance Medicine building. The Energy Center Operator III provides the necessary skills to operate, maintain, and repair various electrical/plumbing systems and movable equipment. The purpose of this position is to ensure a safe working environment and support an exceptional Environment of Care for Mercy.
Performs general and planned maintenance for equipment and systems throughout the hospital complex. Collaborates with and interacts routinely with other Facilities Maintenance and Operations co-workers, Facilities Maintenance Leaders, and other departments as required at the hospital. Scope of responsibility includes Mercy Hospital Creve Coeur, clinics and other properties maintained by Facilities Maintenance Operations throughout the complex. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Position Details: Qualifications: Must have general manual dexterity, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Education: High School plus specialized training (minimum 6 months)
Licensure:
- Valid Driver's License for all Mercy locations.
Experience: � 3 to 5 years commercial experience working with General Maintenance.

- Requires oral and written communication skills to communicate with customers and follow instructions.�
- Verbal ability required to read and understand technical manuals.�
- Numerical ability required to make calculations for testing, installation, measurement, estimation and repair of equipment.

- Ability to perform basic measuring and installing parts and equipment.
- Ability to utilize various computer software such as Outlook, and Mercy work order system.
- Ability to manage time and materials efficiently.� Self-driven and motivated. Completes work assignments in a high-quality manner and the lowest cost to Mercy.
- Requires exceptional customer service skills and ability to achieve department goals.
- Spatial ability to understand forms and relationships when working from blueprints or specifications.
- Requires general manual dexterity, walking, standing, climbing ladders, ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly, occasionally up to 50 pounds, basic math knowledge, and mechanical aptitude.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, electric shock, and loud noise.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: 2 or more years of training in a Technical or Vocational School
Licensure: Boiler, HVAC, or Refrigeration, or other specialized training useful to this role.
Experience: 5 or more years working in a facility maintenance position within a healthcare environment. Ability to teach or conduct learning lessons as needed, share skills for mutual benefit.
