Maintenance Technician
Location: Buford, GA 30518
Hours: second shift (3:00 PM-11:00 PM)– some overtime & weekends (rare) – start on first shift to learn
Salary: $29–$36/hour
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3-month contract plus extensions to potential hire
Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and reactive maintenance to support plant manufacturing operations. Key priorities include executing PM schedules, repairing equipment to maintain maximum production rates, and managing spare parts inventory. This role requires flexibility to work 40+ hours per week, weekends as needed, and fulfill on-call duties for repairs and assistance.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair machines and controls (extruders, corrugators, extrusion die, DC/AC motors & drives, downstream equipment, chillers, etc.).
- Complete PM and repair work orders in CMMS system promptly and accurately.
- Order replacement parts and control components as needed.
- Serve as first responder for machine troubleshooting; escalate to Electrical Engineering when necessary.
- Support daily management initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate with production staff to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation.
- Maintain and build job skills through company training programs.
Must-Haves
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience
- Strong electrical skills and experience with industrial systems.
- Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, NFPA 79 codes.
- Proficiency in Lockout/Tagout safety procedures, Arc Flash, and PPE requirements.
- Skilled in troubleshooting PLC I/O, networking, AC/DC drives, and servo systems.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and work in extreme temperatures.
