Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality and reliability of all production-related equipment and facility infrastructure. This role involves performing a variety of skilled tasks, including repairs, preventative maintenance, and proactive monitoring, to support continuous production and uphold safety and quality standards.
The ideal candidate has 18-36 months of experience in mechanical systems maintenance for a high-speed production line. Candidates must have experience with high-speed packaging equipment and knowledge and advanced skills in pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps, bearing, chains and belting, conveying systems, valves, basic blueprint reading, and mechanical troubleshooting. We are looking for a team player who can work in a fast-paced and challenging environment, is physically able to perform the duties of the job (move heavy equipment/machinery, climb ladders, perform repetitive motions, walk/stand, etc.), has strong communication and customer service skills.

3rd Shift: Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 pm-6:00 am
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
- Execute timely repairs, upgrades, and modifications on all production equipment.
- Conduct scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities diligently.
- Perform routine machine rebuilds as part of preventative maintenance.
- Maintain and repair farm carts and bossies.
- Proactive Monitoring & Communication:
- Routinely patrol the production area, actively observing equipment to ensure proper operating conditions.
- Maintain open and effective communication with production operators to identify and address equipment issues promptly.
- Effectively communicate all completed repairs or modifications to equipment.
- Advise and provide input on necessary equipment changes and improvements.
- Communicate repair schedules and vacation plans with the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Production Support & Collaboration:
- Support and collaborate with production teams to resolve issues that hinder or limit production.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude when interacting with production personnel.
- Assist production with product change-over procedures, start-up, and machine hand-off processes.
- Complete pre-shift/pre-start checklists and verify machine operation prior to production runs.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist the Supervisor in maintaining an organized and functional parts inventory.
- Notify the Supervisor immediately when parts are consumed to ensure stock replacement.
- Alert the Supervisor without delay if a part is needed to continue or complete a repair.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Actively participate in the company's Safety Program, adhering to all safety practices and procedures.
- Verify the accuracy of the Sanitation department's work and enforce proper cleaning and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe, consistent product and a clean facility.
- Adhere to all SQF, HACCP, GMP, USDA, NFPA, and OSHA recommendations, requirements, and guidelines.
- System Participation:
- Actively participate in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Technical Proficiency:
- Good working knowledge and practical experience in the following areas:
- Electricity and Electronics
- Pneumatics
- Mechanical Drive Systems
- Welding
- Drilling and Tapping
- Schematic and Blueprint Reading
- Note: Candidates found to be non-sufficient in any of the above areas following on-site assessments must agree to receive adequate training.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, squat, and maneuver effectively around machinery.
- Capable of actively engaging with equipment.
- Must be able to physically complete all assigned tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to lift 40-50 pounds independently and participate in team lifting for heavier objects as required.
Attendance & Professional Conduct
- Attendance: Punctual and reliable attendance is a fundamental requirement of employment. Shift employees must adhere to the company's attendance policy for continued employment. Shift requirements include, but are not limited to:
- 1st Shift: Report to work at a time deemed appropriate by the Maintenance Supervisor to successfully complete all required pre-shift tasks. Typically, technicians should plan to arrive at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled 7:00 AM production run start.
- 2nd Shift: Report to work at a time deemed appropriate by the Maintenance Supervisor to successfully complete all required work and assign tasks.
- 3rd Shift: Report to work at a time deemed appropriate by the Maintenance Supervisor to successfully complete all required pre-shift tasks. Typically, technicians should plan to arrive at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled 9:00 PM production run start.
- Off-Shift Requirements: Certain instances may require technicians to work off-shift hours or weekends, as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Failure to adhere to these attendance guidelines will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, as outlined in the company attendance policy.
- Professional Conduct: The Maintenance Technician will always present themselves in a professional manner, which includes:
- Dressing in the appropriate company uniform (Sauder's Eggs Uniform – Provided).
- Wearing safety-toed boots, properly laced and tied to prevent safety hazards.
