Job Summary/Primary Purpose
As Maintenance Technician II, you will work independently and collaboratively within a team to perform facility maintenance functions. The role involves ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds, maintaining a high standard of service. The ideal candidate will be displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public. The candidate will assist in the completion of the daily or weekly work activities as prescribed by the employer to ensure a program of maintenance that promotes the comfort, health, and safety of clients and staff.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred; or appropriate work experience
Motor vehicle records clearance required
Good employment history in construction and/or building maintenance required
Experience working independently and following directions
Experience in self-directed work
Experience with deliveries and handling materials.
Ability to understand and communicate safety instructions
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations
Preferred Qualifications
Computer Literacy
Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to operate hand and power tools
Ability to operate copy equipment
Ability to handle maintenance supplies in accordance with standard procedures required
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Systematic filing and records maintenance
Forklift Operator Certification
Licensed Electrician, Plumber, HV/AC or other applicable trade skill(s)
Major Responsibilities
Serve as a representative who will be displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the educational community and with the public
Coordinate and assist in the completion of the daily or weekly work activities as prescribed by the employer to ensure a program of maintenance that promotes the comfort, health, and safety of clients and staff
Inspect building and grounds, in a timely fashion, for needed repairs and ensure maintenance is undertaken
Correct unsafe conditions in the area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately
Maintain an inventory of equipment, supplies and repair parts
Coordinate the set up and break down of classroom and other meeting rooms
Complete work orders daily
Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including furniture
Assist with equipment, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical
Move, install, assemble, and repair all furniture and equipment as needed to include, but not limited to: reconfiguring cubicles, moving desks, file cabinets, tables, chairs, hanging pictures, mirrors, bulletin board, screens, towel and soap dispensers, and other items as required
Install ceiling and flooring materials
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Drive company vehicle for pick-ups and delivery
Maintain or service the company vehicles when needed
Initiate work activities as they occur and/or needed
Coordinate with other departments, as needed, to pick up and/or deliver materials, supplies, etc.
Maintain a list and purchase paper goods, supplies, tools and other maintenance needs with the approval of the lead maintenance tech and/or budget manager
Maintain preventative maintenance schedules for facility systems and equipment
Conduct weekly site visits to satellite campuses, perform work as needed
Maintain proper decorum with respect to Flag placement following proper US Flag Code and laws of the State of Texas0703
Perform other duties as assigned

General office equipment to include computer, copiers, printers, and other equipment as requirements change
Hand truck, forklift, utility vehicle, poster meter, calculator, box cutter, dolly, vacuum cleaner, hand tools, power tools, various copiers, collators, hole punch, paper-cutter, and binding machines.
