. Maintenance of Health Department Facilities: 45%
This position maintains the health department facility in an acceptable state of repair. Performs maintenance as needed when plumbing problems arise. Also handle electrical problems that do not require a licensed electrician, which include but not limited to, changing of ballast in ceiling light fixtures. This position makes any necessary repairs to the walls/ceilings of the facility. This position performs other miscellaneous duties such as hanging pictures, installing shelves and chair molding, hanging wall mounted equipment, and assembly of various items of equipment and furniture. Performs minor maintenance such as monthly changing air conditioning filters, replacing light bulbs/tubes as needed, installing and changing locks on doors, replace ceiling tiles, replace batteries/bulbs in emergency lights, painting, staining, and touch-ups as needed. Drains on roof are kept free of debris. Assistance is given with any county vehicle problems that are within this positions expertise, such as recharging batteries, changing flat tires, and refueling of gasoline. If any repairs are beyond this positions expertise, supervisor is notified immediately. Assistance is given contractors who are called in to do repairs.
B. Housekeeping Duties: 25%
Working in a high-risk position, an inspection is made of the clinic facilities such as examination rooms, laboratory, and restrooms to make sure they are stocked with supplies, clean, and in operating condition during the day. If the facilities are not in operating condition, necessary action is taken to restore the facilities to operating condition by mopping, emptying trash, etc. The person in this position is the primary person responsible for cleaning up all spillages, including vomitus, by following all O.S.H.A. regulations. Visual verification is made to ensure that biohazard boxes are labeled and picked up on time.
C.Upkeep of the Health Department Grounds: 15%
On a daily basis, the parking lot and health department grounds are canvassed to insure they are clean and safe for the public. This includes picking up any trash, sweeping around the entrances, emptying the trash receptacles, and visually checking parking lot lights to ensure they are operating properly and adjust on/off timer as needed. It is this positions responsibility to insure that the Health Department keeps an appearance that is inviting to the public. The parking lot, sidewalks, and drains are kept clear of debris. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of the lawn, flowerbeds, and edging along sidewalks. When inclement weather arises, also responsible for making sure the sidewalks are safe for clients and staff by clearing them of snow/ice and applying deicing salt as needed.
D.Delivery of Mail, Supplies and Errands: 10%
This position will routinely pick up and deliver mail to appropriate locations, including the post office and county offices. This position is also responsible for taking the bake deposit to the bank on a daily basis. Occasionally correspondence is picked up and delivered to the local hospital. Responsible for delivery of supplies, from the receiving room, to various locations throughout the building. Supplies are also picked up from local merchants as needed.
E. Other Duties: 05%
This position is responsible for maintaining a constant inventory of maintenance supplies and request is given to supervisor to order supplies when needed. On occasion this position is required to set up classrooms for meetings. Periodically will rearrange/move furniture as assigned by supervisor. Responsible for ensuring that cardboard, suitable for recycling, is placed in appropriate container for pickup. Occasionally required to transport aluminum cans/materials to local recycling center for proper disposal. Also required to transport records, that are ready for disposition according to State guidelines, to a suitable location so they will be properly destroyed. Cubicles are assembled and disassembled as needed. On a yearly basis, assistance is given the Fire Department in Fire Safety Inspections of the Health Department. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
A. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of small hand tools, basic electrical and plumbing repairs, proper cleaning techniques, basic carpentry skills, basic commercial janitorial duties, basic heating/air conditioning maintenance, sheetrock repairs/painting, and lawn maintenance.
B. Required Minimum Training:
One year of experience in the performance of a variety of manual tasks.
