Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and repairing equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

• Interpret work orders to determine setup procedures and necessary ancillary equipment to meet specifications.
• Install dies, machine screws, and sizing rings on machines that extrude thermoplastic materials.
• Change and/or clean dies on extruding machines according to production line changes.
• Perform die lip changes as necessary.
• Change and/or clean screws.
• Perform roll changes which may include scuffing rolls.
• Perform deckle changes as necessary.
• Position, align, and secure ancillary equipment such as shearers, slitting knives, winders, and unwinders.
• Troubleshoot and make minor repairs to equipment.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Maintain tooling such as deckles, slitters, roll, and pump conditions.
• Notify maintenance of any necessary repairs or maintenance required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, hand tools, power tools, electrical, mechanical, and welding.
• Diagnosing equipment and performing preventative maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements in fractions and decimals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ideally three to six months of maintenance experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Experience as an automotive mechanic is beneficial.
• Ability to perform minor metal fabrication and carpentry tasks.
• Ability to travel between facilities and maintain a good driving record.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to work overtime if required to meet business demands.
• Ability to use a computer, including manufacturing software.
• Ability to communicate effectively with workers and supervisors.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex, multi-step instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems and non-standardized situations with multiple variables.

Work Environment

Our facilities feature state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, including industry-leading extrusion capability, capacity, and quality controls. We operate in a clean room environment and adhere to strict safety protocols. The dress code requires a hair net and hard hat, with additional requirements for those with facial hair. You must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds.. The schedule follows a rotating two days on/three days off and three days on/two days off pattern. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, glasses, bump caps, and hearing protection are required. The work involves performing repetitive tasks and occasionally working in awkward or tight spaces.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greenfield, MA.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Greenfield,MA.
