Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

Join a leading international provider of semi-finished ingredients for the bakery, pastry, and gelato markets as a Maintenance Mechanic. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and complete all related documentation.
  • Repair malfunctioning equipment using a 'final task' methodology, including equipment upgrades, modification, and new installations.
  • Provide assistance to line and machine operators.
  • Create essential documentation and conduct research for root cause analysis when needed.
  • Affirm maintenance role in the HACCP procedure alongside other departments.
  • Assess and function effectively in an ever-changing environment.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and leadership.

Essential Skills

  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience as a maintenance technician.
  • Mechanical repair knowledge.
  • Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Preventive maintenance expertise.
  • Basic electrical skills.
  • Welding proficiency.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Mechanical and basic electrical ability.
  • Two-year technical degree in a maintenance-related field.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical school training or related experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a full-time maintenance mechanic or in a related field.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • High-speed packaging, welding, and mechanical power transmission knowledge.
  • Facility support equipment training or experience.
  • Computer knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Problem-solving skills involving concrete variables.

Work Environment

As a food company, we adhere to strict GMP rules, requiring uniforms, hair nets, beard nets, and safety shoes. Employees must wash up before entering the floor and sanitize boots and hands before entering each room. The facility includes 8 production rooms and 4 packaging lines.

This is a Permanent position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $56000.00 - $67000.00/yr.
