Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

This role is a hands-on Maintenance Mechanic position in an industrial feed and grain environment, focused on troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing production equipment on primarily 2nd and 3rd shifts. You will work with electrical and mechanical systems, including conveyor belts, variable frequency drives (VFDs), gear boxes, bearings, motors, and start controls, ensuring equipment reliability and safety in a small, collaborative maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial equipment such as conveyor belts, VFDs, gear boxes, bearings, motors, and start controls.
  • Perform both electrical and mechanical maintenance on production equipment in an industrial feed and grain or milling environment.
  • Re-wire pumps and work with gear boxes and bearings to restore and maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance (PM) activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Use basic PC skills to document maintenance work, review maintenance schedules, and access equipment information.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly and safely, including during overtime and weekend hours as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area to support a safety-conscious culture.
  • Collaborate with a small maintenance crew to prioritize work orders and support production needs.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, steady work history, and positive attitude while working independently on 2nd and 3rd shifts.
  • Remain flexible and open to working varying hours and weekends based on operational requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated recent experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment.
  • Strong electrical experience, including experience with start controls, VFDs, and motors.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience working with conveyor belts, gear boxes, and bearings.
  • Ability to re-wire pumps safely and accurately.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance (PM) practices and schedules.
  • Basic PC skills to support documentation and maintenance-related tasks.
  • Experience in an industrial, feed and grain, or milling environment, or a similar industrial setting.
  • Ability to work 2nd and 3rd shifts with flexibility for overtime and weekends.
  • Safety-conscious mindset and commitment to following established safety procedures.
  • Spanish language skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a feed and grain or milling company is ideal.
  • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven steady work history demonstrating reliability and long-term commitment.
  • Strong work ethic, high level of commitment, and a positive, cooperative attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small maintenance team with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Comfort working 10–12 hour shifts as part of a rotating schedule.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial feed and grain nutrition facility, working as part of a small maintenance crew of approximately four people. The work involves operating in a production setting with industrial equipment such as conveyor systems, motors, VFDs, gear boxes, and pumps. Shifts primarily cover 2nd shift (for example, 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.) and 3rd shift, with typical workdays running 10–12 hours from Monday through Saturday, plus regular overtime. The schedule includes 12-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays on certain rotations, followed by having the next weekend off. The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and safety-focused, requiring comfort with industrial conditions and flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
