Maintenance Mechanic

We are seeking a full-time Plant Operator for an operations project in Batavia, NY. The Plant Operator will perform a wide range of mid-complex to complex tasks based on client requirements, ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our treatment plant.

• Perform daily operations and maintenance of the treatment plant.
• Complete minor routine maintenance of equipment.
• Demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
• Apply working knowledge of fundamental principles, terminology, and methodology in assignments.
• Operate facilities with computer or PLC controls.
• Monitor, regulate, and adjust chlorinators, chemical feed pumps, and other process equipment.
• Collect samples and perform routine in-lab tests as required.
• Maintain a log of operations and maintenance activities and related records.
• Operate systems to maintain compliance with permit requirements.
• Wash clarifiers, dissolved air flotation systems, contact basins, and operate sludge handling equipment and other process unit equipment.
• Have good knowledge of practices and equipment required in the operation and maintenance of industrial facilities.
• Possibly operate various equipment such as forklifts, aerial or scissor lifts, generators, compressors, and pumps.
• Participate actively in creating a safety culture at the jobsite.
• Adhere to the policies and standards set forth in the Project Delivery Manual, Employee Manual, and Corporate Health & Safety Manual.

• High School Diploma or Vocational training or equivalent.
• Applicable health & safety training.
• Typically 5+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to perform basic control laboratory testing and apply results.
• Good record-keeping skills and comfort with computers and computer-controlled equipment.

• Wastewater operator licenses preferred but not required.
• Capability of learning new operating, maintenance, analytical, or computer skills.

The facility is large, spanning 600,000 sq. ft., and employs over 450 people. It produces products such as RTD coffee, protein drinks, and evaporated goods. Work involves operating machinery that converts wastewater into a safe form for environmental release.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Batavia, NY.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
