Salary Range: $7,185 - $8,332 Monthly
This position is represented by the Teamsters 117 bargaining unit and requires in-facility work for each shift.

If so, the Washington State Department of Corrections Maintenance Mechanic 4 (MM4) position may be your next career move! The goal of this position is to proactively ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all facilities through expert maintenance and repair.
At the Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW), an adult female correctional facility, this position plans, directs and performs skilled construction and maintenance work such as inspections, servicing, installation, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems to include but not limited to irrigation, grease interceptor, plumbing, steam, HVAC, sewer, water and sewer meters, storm drains, buildings and structures (floor systems, wall systems, doors, windows, and roofs), grounds, roads, pathways and walks, fencing and related facilities.
This position supports both WCCW’s mission to engage incarcerated women in opportunities for growth and success to lead law-abiding and useful lives. We provide a continuum of services in a safe and healthy environment; and DOC’s mission to improve public safety. Maintenance staff play a vital role in these missions by participating in WCCW facilities and grounds maintenance programs to ensure operational systems, and safe buildings and grounds.

As a Maintenance Mechanic 4, some of your duties will include:
- Planning, directing, and performing skilled construction/repair and maintenance work which could look like:
- Inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing, installing and conducting preventive/corrective maintenance on plant equipment and systems such as grease interceptors, plumbing, boilers, low voltage systems, exhaust fans, plug in appliances, sewer meters and storm drains
- Inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing, installing and conducting preventive/corrective maintenance on buildings and structures to include floor systems, wall systems, doors, windows and roofs
- Constructing, maintaining, and repairing grounds, roads, pathways, walks and fencing
- Performing repairs on hinges, doors, jams, door operating mechanisms, install door cuff ports
- Performing preventive and repair maintenance on general food service equipment, laundry equipment, ice machines, etc.
- Daily tool Accountability, Inventory, FTCM Logs and Incarcerated Individual Accountability
- Preventative Maintenance
- Other duties as assigned
What we need (required qualifications):
- GED/High School graduation
AND
- Four years of experience in building and maintenance trades
- Possession of a Washington State Drivers License
- Experience planning and supervising the work of others
- Basic computer skills

Telework Details
This position may be allocated for telework. If authorized for the role, work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time. Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite. Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process. Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
