Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Maintenance Manager job in Cleveland, Ohio for our client, an established aerospace manufacturing company in a union forging environment. This leadership role reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for directing maintenance resources across a large, complex manufacturing operation that supports 24/7 production. The Maintenance Manager will provide technical leadership for mechanical and electrical systems, drive reliability and preventive maintenance initiatives, oversee contractors and internal maintenance teams, and support plant performance through improved up-time and equipment effectiveness. This position also plays a critical role in safety, workforce development, labor relations, and building a proactive maintenance culture across multiple facilities.
Our client offers a salary range for this position of $135,000 to $152,000 per year plus a 15% annual bonus, along with an excellent benefits package that starts on day one and relocation assistance.
Responsibilities for the Maintenance Manager job in Cleveland, Ohio include:
- Lead the maintenance organization in support of plant safety, environmental, and operational goals
- Direct maintenance resources to support business objectives across the manufacturing operation and multiple facilities
- Provide technical leadership for plant mechanical and electrical equipment systems
- Drive preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance strategies to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and strengthen overall equipment performance
- Lead reliability improvement efforts, root cause analysis activities, and Total Productive Maintenance initiatives
- Develop and implement maintenance and reliability best practices while benchmarking improvements across facilities and industry sources
- Manage contractor and service provider relationships to ensure quality work, strong communication, and alignment with plant priorities
- Evaluate equipment failures and maintenance trends to identify opportunities for capital improvements, cost savings, and productivity gains
- Support plant performance metrics such as OEE, operational availability, PM compliance, and safety results
- Coach, develop, and lead maintenance team members while supporting performance management, succession planning, hiring, and training efforts
- Partner with Human Resources and site leadership to support employee engagement, development, and workforce planning
- Manage labor-related matters within the department and support grievance processes in accordance with the labor agreement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field or a minimum of 10 years of previous maintenance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated success developing, implementing, and sustaining preventive maintenance programs
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical schematics
- Working knowledge of PLC ladder logic
- Experience leading maintenance teams and delivering results in an operations-driven, lean and continuous improvement manufacturing environment
- Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize work effectively and ensure maintenance resources are fully utilized
- Experience managing departmental budgets and controlling maintenance-related costs
- Experience in the forging industry or other metalworking environments is preferred
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and engineering practices gained through hands-on technical leadership experience
- Ability to communicate clearly, delegate effectively, and maintain momentum on key objectives
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, systems thinking, project management, and team-building skills
- Commitment to workforce planning, talent development, and supporting apprenticeship or skilled trades pipeline efforts
