Job Title: Urgent Need, Maintenance Engineer up to $35/hr
Job Description
The Maintenance Engineer maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial electrical and mechanical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role uses technical data, electrical and mechanical expertise, and strong problem-solving skills to keep production equipment operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Responsibilities
- Use appropriate technical data to isolate, diagnose, and repair electrical problems on production equipment.
- Convert amperes to watts and vice versa for both single-phase and three-phase electrical installations as needed for troubleshooting and repair.
- Determine and use the correct electrical testing equipment, interpret readings accurately, and adjust, align, and repair electrical systems based on results.
- Interpret and comply with the National Electrical Code and other electrical safety-related requirements when performing all electrical work.
- Identify malfunctions in industrial equipment and troubleshoot installations down to the component level to find root causes.
- Replace defective components, align, adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment as necessary to restore machinery to production-ready status.
- Read, evaluate, and interpret system technical data, electrical prints, drawings, schematics, and other documentation to support accurate repair and alignment of equipment systems.
- Evaluate, overhaul, and repair defective mechanical and electrical components to extend equipment life and improve reliability.
- Use all available technical data to requisition or cross-reference mechanical components such as bearings, oil seals, sprockets, drive belts, and similar parts needed to expedite repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on industrial equipment to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot and support electrical panels, including components and wiring, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Support maintenance activities involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and general maintenance repair tasks as needed.
- Assist with PLC troubleshooting to help identify issues affecting equipment performance.
- Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to prioritize work, minimize downtime, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Document work performed, parts used, and findings from troubleshooting to support continuous improvement and future maintenance planning.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
- 5+ years of experience using basic math skills, including multiplication and division, in daily work.
- 3+ years of demonstrated mechanical aptitude working with industrial equipment and components.
- 3+ years of experience working with electrical panels, including troubleshooting and repair.
- 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting electrical prints, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
- Ability to use appropriate electrical testing equipment and interpret readings to diagnose issues and perform repairs.
- Ability to interpret and comply with the National Electrical Code and other electrical safety-related requirements.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, including identifying malfunctions down to the component level.
- Ability to read, evaluate, and interpret system technical data and equipment documentation.
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial maintenance setting.
- Experience performing maintenance repair tasks on a variety of industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with three-phase electrical systems and their applications in industrial settings.
- Exposure to Allen-Bradley systems and PLC troubleshooting in a maintenance environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- No specific certifications required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Welding experience, including basic fabrication or repair work, is a plus.
- Mechanical background, such as experience as a mechanic or similar role, is highly beneficial.
- Automotive repair background that demonstrates strong hands-on mechanical and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with PLC programming and advanced PLC troubleshooting is a strong advantage.
- Ability to cross-reference and source mechanical components such as bearings, oil seals, sprockets, and drive belts using technical data.
- Comfort working with blueprint and schematic interpretation beyond basic reading, including applying this information to complex repairs.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with maintenance, engineering, and production teams.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality in all maintenance activities.

Work Environment
Work takes place in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with active production equipment and industrial systems. You may be exposed to varying temperatures that reflect both outdoor conditions and those controlled by internal heating and cooling systems, though temperatures are not extreme. There is occasional work performed outdoors in natural weather conditions. The role supports a rotating 2-2-3 schedule with one available day shift (4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and one available night shift (4:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.). Initial training occurs on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The environment requires safe work practices around electrical panels, mechanical systems, and production machinery, with appropriate use of tools, testing equipment, and personal protective equipment as provided by the facility.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
