Job Title: Electrical-Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, repairing, installing, and troubleshooting complex production machinery and complete production lines in a large industrial manufacturing environment. You will support a growing operation by ensuring equipment reliability, improving controls and processes, and minimizing downtime across multiple shifts, including newly added weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, install, and troubleshoot production machines and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Install and maintain complete production lines, including electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Follow, interpret, and apply blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and component catalogs when performing maintenance and installations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment and systems in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with PLCs, HMIs, AC and DC drives, and servo systems (electrical and hydraulic).
  • Assist with improvements to production equipment and controls to increase productivity and reduce downtime throughout the facility.
  • Interface and collaborate with all levels of personnel to implement equipment and process improvements.
  • Support daily production activities while simultaneously managing and completing maintenance projects.
  • Research new trends and technologies relevant to industrial maintenance and apply them where appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly and openly with supervisors and team members to avoid misunderstandings and ensure alignment on priorities.
  • Work effectively as part of a team-oriented process by actively participating in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with minimal supervision, taking ownership of assigned tasks and following through to completion.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and instructions in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Carry yourself in a professional manner consistent with sound principles and the goals, plans, and policies of the department.
  • Work overtime as assigned to support production needs and maintenance requirements.
  • Safely perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, and stooping as needed for equipment maintenance.
Essential Skills
  • At least five years of experience in industrial manufacturing maintenance or completion of a three-year technical schooling program in a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in electrical maintenance and repair in an industrial environment.
  • Minimum five years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair in an industrial environment.
  • Minimum five years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, supporting production machinery and lines.
  • At least three years of experience in PLC troubleshooting, including diagnosing faults and resolving control issues.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting one or more PLC platforms such as Siemens (S5, S7), ABB, Bosch, and similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of control wiring, logic diagrams, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in AC and DC drive setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in the use and programming of servo systems, both electrical and hydraulic.
  • Experience with HMI troubleshooting in a production environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply information from component catalogs and technical documentation.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation, research, and equipment interfaces.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to multitask effectively, balancing projects with day-to-day support activities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration.
  • Ability to work overtime as assigned to meet operational needs.
  • Capability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, and stooping as required by the job.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with welding and fabrication in an industrial setting.
  • Exposure to PLC programming, including setting timers and checking inputs and outputs.
  • Experience with CNC maintenance or robotic maintenance is highly beneficial.
  • Background as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with troubleshooting high voltage systems and AC/DC motors.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in production equipment.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance programs on complex machinery.
  • Familiarity with robotic welders, ovens, wire-mesh equipment, paint lines, and similar industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint schematics for both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with HMI interfaces for monitoring and adjusting machine operations.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, large-scale manufacturing environment with multiple production lines.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large, high-volume manufacturing facility with over 300 employees and extensive industrial machinery, including robotic welders, ovens, wire-mesh fencing machines, paint lines, and other automated production equipment. The facility is non-climate controlled, so temperatures can become hot during warmer months and cooler during colder periods. You will work around active production lines, industrial controls, and high-energy equipment, following strict safety procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment as required. Multiple shifts operate regularly, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts (8-hour schedules) from Monday through Friday, as well as 1st and 3rd weekend shifts running Friday through Sunday (approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.). The environment is hands-on, fast-paced, and highly collaborative, with frequent interaction between maintenance, production, and engineering teams.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
