The Maintenance Assistant - Seasonal, under general supervision, provides routine park grounds and building maintenance. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in occasional contact with the general public.Provides routine park grounds and building maintenance to include daily trash collection and removal, daily cleaning of bathhouses, and cleaning of park cabins.
Assists in mowing, weed eating, and cutting of bushes and designated trees.
Assists with clearing and maintaining park trails.
Assists in planting, watering and weeding of flowerbeds and other landscape.
Assists in the cleaning of park vehicles.
Ability to safely operate various pieces of equipment (county vehicles, lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc.).
Performs manual labor to include lifting up to80 lbs.
Speaks to people with poise, voice control and confidence.
Is able to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
Performs under occasional stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED).
Licenses or Certifications:
Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
Special Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age as required by the FLSA.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED) and experience in landscaping and the operation of related equipment.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
Special Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age as required by the FLSA.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including blowers, clippers, mowers, saws, chainsaws, sprayers, tractors, computers, vehicles etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert a moderate amount of force constantly, and up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, to move objects. Moderate work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Moderate Work.
