The City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities is seeking
a highly motivated Maintenance and Operations Crew Supervisor to lead and manage work crews, coordinate projects and resources, and ensure compliance with safety standards. This role combines administrative responsibilities with hands-on operational oversight, including scheduling, training, inspections, and customer service.- Supervise, direct, and guide work crews, including scheduling and task assignments.
- Evaluate and monitor staff performance; provide training, mentorship, and support.
- Maintain accurate time sheets and leave records.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints via phone, email, and in person, and the City of Richmond’s 311 service request system
- Collaborate with volunteer groups, community partners, and Friends organizations.
- Conduct inspections of structures, properties, equipment, and vehicles to ensure compliance with standards.
- Monitor maintenance needs and recommend repairs.
- Order and manage supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee projects and services.
- Assist with protocol updates and implementation.
- Maintain accurate records, databases, and prepare reports.
- Support special projects and events as assigned.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support departmental goals.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of experience in the assigned area
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
- A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire
- Some assignments may require a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Commercial Driver's License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. The essential duties of this classification may require the ability to regularly stand, walk, lift, finger, grasp, talk, see, hear, and use substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers; frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, lift, feel; and occasionally crawl, push, and pull. The working conditions may include frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions and hazardous materials; occasional exposure to atmospheric conditions, extreme temperatures, intense noise, travel outside the organization's location, and environmental hazards. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
