Position Summary

The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machine tools to produce precision metal components that meet exact specifications. This role supports production efficiency, quality standards, and safe operations within a metal manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a variety of manual and CNC machines to include mills, lathes and other machines as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and operations
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Make machine adjustments to maintain part quality and tolerances
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to meet production goals

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred
  • 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent training)
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience with CNC programming/editing (preferred but not required)
  • Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments
  • Basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry
