Position Summary

Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machines within the machine shop to support production requirements while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Set up and operate manual and automated equipment including:

• Lathes and milling machines
• Economy pointer machines
• Slotting machines
• Air chamber equipment
• Fillet rolling machines
• Traub machines
• Thread rolling (die) machines
• Drill press
• Automatic pin machines
• Button die and countersink (C-sink) equipment
• Cut-off saws
• Chop-off presses

Perform machine adjustments and basic troubleshooting to ensure efficient operation

Maintain quality standards by following established procedures and specifications

Utilize precision measuring tools including:

• Dial calipers
• Micrometers
• SPC (Statistical Process Control) systems

Inspect parts to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances

Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area

Qualifications-Education/Experience

Required:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.

• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; or a minimum of five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and effectively communicate with customers and employees.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
