Flowtec Group has partnered with a well-established rotating equipment and spare parts manufacturer on their search for a Machine Shop / Facilities Manager. Our client operates a multi-million-dollar precision manufacturing facility serving demanding industrial markets.


Position Summary


The Machine Shop / Facilities Manager is responsible for managing and continuously improving all operational aspects of the manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on, high-energy leadership role reporting directly to the President.


Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure a safe, OSHA, and environmentally compliant workplace
  • Manage facilities operations and lead modernization initiatives
  • Supervise machinist, assembly, and welding personnel
  • Coach direct and indirect employees to maximize morale, engagement, and productivity
  • Utilize visual metrics to provide constant feedback on performance vs. plan and continuous improvement goals
  • Own capacity, expense, inventory, and capital investment budgeting and forecasting
  • Lead machine shop and test area capacity planning
  • Manage all aspects of the supply chain, including supplier selection and contract negotiation
  • Oversee critical shop activities including production planning, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement
  • Utilize EPICOR Release 10 ERP system to schedule and track production transactions
  • Interface with customer representatives and third-party quality assurance organizations during shop inspections and customer witness testing
  • Participate in the Quality Review Board
  • Drive 5S and lean implementation
  • Reduce slow-moving inventory and manufacturing costs
  • Provide cost estimates for sales and engineering in support of proposal and product development activities


Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 10 years of machine shop supervisory experience, preferably in a high-precision manufacturing environment
  • Engineering degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong CAD/CAM, CNC, and manual machine tool knowledge and experience
  • Basic knowledge of ASME welding and pressure vessel code requirements
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience working within ISO or Military Standard Quality assurance systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective action implementation
  • Basic understanding of casting techniques and casting quality control
  • Continuous improvement mindset and drive
  • Leadership and coaching skills
  • Desire and aptitude to grow into more senior positions within the company
