Machine Operator

This role operates and assists with high-speed converting equipment to produce corrugated boxes, focusing on safe machine operation, accurate setup, and consistent product quality. You will work on either a day shift from 6:20 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Friday and Saturday if needed, or an evening shift from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Friday and Saturday if needed, which includes an additional shift premium.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate converting equipment, including Rotary Die Cutters and Flexo Folder Gluers, to manufacture corrugated boxes according to production specifications.
• Assist with machine changeovers, adjustments, and setups to ensure efficient and accurate production runs.
• Monitor machine performance throughout the shift and make basic adjustments to maintain optimal speed, quality, and safety.
• Inspect materials and finished products regularly to verify they meet quality standards and customer requirements.
• Perform visual and manual inspections during production to identify defects, inconsistencies, or equipment issues and report them promptly.
• Handle general production tasks such as loading materials, stacking or organizing finished products, and keeping the work area clean and organized.
• Follow established production schedules and instructions to meet daily output goals and deadlines.
• Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines while operating machinery and handling materials.
• Collaborate with team members and support personnel to resolve minor mechanical or production issues and minimize downtime.
• Complete basic documentation related to production, quality checks, and equipment status as required.

• At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
• At least 6 months of experience operating machinery in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to operate, or quickly learn to operate, Rotary Die Cutters and Flexo Folder Gluers.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to perform machine setups, adjustments, and troubleshooting under guidance.
• Strong attention to detail to perform accurate inspections and maintain product quality.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, production orders, and safety procedures.
• Capability to perform general labor and assembly tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
• Reliability in attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules.

• Experience with corrugated packaging or box manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with general production, inspection, and quality control practices.
• Comfort working with high-speed, automated equipment and hand tools.
• Ability to work overtime on Fridays and Saturdays when production needs require.
• Strong teamwork skills and willingness to assist in multiple areas of production as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility focused on the production of corrugated boxes using converting equipment such as Rotary Die Cutters and Flexo Folder Gluers. You work either a day shift from 6:20 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., Monday through Thursday, or an evening shift from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime on Friday and Saturday as needed. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, with periods of standing, walking, lifting, and handling materials throughout the shift. You work around running machinery and moving product, following safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment as required by the facility. Dress is typical for an industrial setting, emphasizing safety, practicality, and readiness to work on and around production equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Walker, MI.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
