Job Title: Machine Operator (Packaging / Production)
Location: Piscataway, NJ
Job Summary
We are hiring a Machine Operator for a growing food manufacturing facility. This is a great opportunity for candidates with packaging machine experience looking for long-term stability and the chance to transition into a permanent role. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining high-speed production equipment to ensure quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor packaging and carton flow equipment
- Perform equipment checks and troubleshoot issues during production
- Complete changeovers between product formats
- Ensure machines are running efficiently with minimal downtime
- Conduct pre-operation checks to ensure proper startup
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery
- Communicate with team members to maintain production flow
- Maintain cleanliness and follow all safety and food quality standards
- Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
- Report any quality or food safety concerns to management
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a machine operator in a high-speed manufacturing environment
- Experience with packaging machinery preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food manufacturing environments
- Spanish language skills are a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $21 – $23/hour
- Contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term growth potential
- Overtime may be available based on production needs
Schedule
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
- Training required on 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM for the first 3 weeks
