Job Title: Finishing Operator – Folder/Gluer Machine

Job Description

The Finishing Operator – Folder/Gluer Machine sets up, operates, and maintains folder/gluer equipment in a commercial printing environment to produce high-quality finished products on time and in a cost-effective manner. This role ensures that all finishing work meets strict customer, quality, safety, and compliance standards while supporting a collaborative, team-oriented production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform make‑ready on folder/gluer machines and related finishing equipment
  • Execute complex folds (rotary hooks/back folds, 4‑ & 6‑corner, pocket folds)
  • Apply automated finishing solutions across various substrates
  • Monitor quality, accuracy, and consistency; adjust machines as needed
  • Maintain production records and follow ISO‑based quality procedures
  • Communicate job status and handoff details across shifts
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Perform routine machine maintenance (daily, monthly, quarterly)
  • Train new/temporary employees as needed
  • Work overtime/weekends based on production demand
  • Follow all company policies and perform additional duties as assigned

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years operating folder/gluer machines in commercial printing
  • Experience with Bobst or similar high‑end finishing equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to read job tickets, specs, and follow instructions
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs in a fast‑paced environment
  • Basic computer/data entry skills (PSI a plus)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and 75 lbs occasionally; push/pull pallet jacks
  • Consistent adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Print shop/manufacturing experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with blueprints, job tickets, ISO‑style procedures
  • Willingness to cross‑train and mentor others
  • Strong ownership of equipment performance and product quality

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/production setting (initially Burlingame; moving to Hayward in 5–6 months)
  • Fast‑paced, hands‑on work with folder/gluers, die cutters, presses, and bindery equipment
  • Swing shifts (1PM-9PM)
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting (50–75 lbs), and material handling
  • Clean, organized, safety‑focused production floor
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burlingame, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
