Job Title: LOTO Coordinator

Job Description

We are seeking a Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Coordinator to manage the safety, controls, documentation, and execution of LOTO procedures in live data-center construction and commissioning environments. This position ensures equipment is safely de-energized, authorization is controlled, permits are coordinated, technicians are protected, and commissioning progresses smoothly without compromising safety. The role requires collaboration with Commissioning Agents, Start-Up Technicians, OFCI vendors, GC/CM partners, and the Owner’s project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and enforce LOTO procedures during commissioning, energization, start-up, and turnover activities.
  • Develop, issue, and maintain LOTO permits for electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
  • Validate isolation points, verify energy sources, and ensure zero-energy state before work commences.
  • Track, log, and close out LOTO actions in accordance with site-specific standards.
  • Align LOTO windows with commissioning scripts, MOPs, energization milestones, and FAT/SAT testing.
  • Support Cx leads with the safe sequencing of L2–L5 commissioning activities.
  • Maintain real-time visibility of systems that are tagged out and their ownership.
  • Maintain LOTO logs, sign-in/sign-out control, permit boards, tag control, and audit or refine energy control plans for mission-critical equipment.
  • Assist with turnover packages, punch lists, and safety reporting.
  • Communicate with OFCI vendors, electrical and mechanical foremen, controls techs, and safety managers.
  • Support daily brief-outs with commissioning and construction stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific standards.

Essential Skills

  • State Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
  • 3+ years in electrical, mechanical, start-up, industrial safety, or commissioning environments.
  • Hands-on experience with LOTO programs in construction, utilities, industrial facilities, or mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to read one-lines, P&IDs, system isolation points, and energization diagrams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple contractors and OFCI vendors.
  • Comfortable controlling safety in a fast-paced commissioning environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Data Center commissioning or live-environment experience.
  • OSHA 30, NFPA 70E training, or equivalent.
  • Experience in start-up, MEP, controls, or power distribution.
  • Experience supporting multi-shift commissioning schedules.

Work Environment

The position is based onsite in Abilene with a 10 on 4 off schedule. Per diem is offered if over 50 miles from site.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
