Remote Loss Mitigation Representative (Loss Mitigation Specialist III)

Location: 100% Remote

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Some Saturdays may be required with a weekday drop day)

Job Summary

The Loss Mitigation Specialist III is responsible for supporting borrowers experiencing financial hardship by providing loss mitigation solutions and foreclosure alternatives. This role focuses on early- to mid-stage delinquent mortgage accounts and requires in-depth knowledge of investor guidelines, legal requirements, and borrower assistance programs.

Initial responsibilities will include administrative support and customer service for early-stage loss mitigation customers, with progression into outbound dialing for repayment plan negotiations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers experiencing financial hardship, guiding them through loss mitigation options and foreclosure alternatives
  • Evaluate borrower financial information to determine eligibility for loss mitigation programs based on GSE and investor guidelines
  • Handle 60+ day delinquent mortgage loans while applying investor, departmental, and legal requirements
  • Utilize both manual and automated dialing systems to contact delinquent homeowners
  • Review delinquency patterns and negotiate repayment plans or alternative payment arrangements
  • Assist borrowers with available repayment options and loss mitigation programs
  • Resolve complex account inquiries through inbound and outbound calls
  • Provide written and verbal responses to borrower inquiries
  • Collect payments and educate borrowers on the implications of loss mitigation actions
  • Perform skip tracing and maintain accurate account information
  • Support foreclosure, bankruptcy, probate, and workout activities as needed
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of loss mitigation experience
  • Call center or customer service experience
  • Experience in mortgage collections or Single Point of Contact (SPOC) environments
  • Debt collection experience within a banking or financial services environment
  • Strong knowledge of loan agreements and security agreements
  • Understanding of bankruptcy law and real estate transaction principles
  • Knowledge of investor and insurer guidelines
  • Familiarity with foreclosure procedures and legal/regulatory requirements, including VA, HUD, agency loans, and mobile homes
  • Knowledge of regulations related to real estate resale after foreclosure
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and documentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive financial information
Work Environment
  • Fully remote role
  • Standard business hours with occasional Saturday coverage required

This is a Contract position based out of Mount Laurel, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
