Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial, on general liability and medical malpractice defense matters
Draft, proofread, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
Coordinate and manage fact and expert witness depositions, including scheduling, preparation of exhibits, and post-deposition summaries
Conduct thorough review and organization of medical records, billing records, and expert reports
Prepare and maintain trial binders, exhibit lists, and case chronologies
Manage discovery deadlines, court filing deadlines, and calendar all critical dates in the case management system
Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, court reporters, and expert witnesses
Perform legal research using Westlaw or LexisNexis as directed by supervising attorneys
File documents with state and federal courts, including e-filing through applicable portals
Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic and physical case files
Qualifications
2+ years of paralegal experience in insurance defense litigation required
Demonstrated experience with general liability and/or medical malpractice defense matters
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, or equivalent combination of education and experience; paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred
Proficiency with legal case management software (e.g., Filevine, Clio, or similar)
Experience with e-filing in state and/or federal court systems
Strong working knowledge of civil litigation procedures and applicable rules of civil procedure
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
