Title: Litigation Paralegal

Pay: $40-$45 per hour

Type: San Diego California 92101 United States – 2 days a week in office, Wednesdays required.

Duration: 3 months to start


Position Overview:

Provide high-level employment litigation, administrative, and litigation support to NFC attorneys. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, team-oriented paralegal who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial firm and can immediately add value across substantive and administrative tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support employment litigation matters from intake through trial: prepare chronologies, indexes, and trial exhibit binders; organize and index exhibits and evidentiary materials.
  • Prepare and maintain privilege logs, Bates-stamp and redact productions, and coordinate document productions.
  • Draft and assist with discovery (interrogatories, document requests, requests for admission, subpoenas) and prepare Answers to Complaints.
  • Prepare documents for and summarize depositions; organize deposition exhibits.
  • Research public records, witnesses, adversaries, arbitrators/mediators; conduct legal research (Westlaw, LexisNexis, internet).
  • Coordinate and electronically file pleadings and other court submissions; follow applicable court rules and local filing procedures.
  • Prepare mediation submissions and settlement agreement drafts; assist drafting client letters and other correspondence.
  • Perform e-discovery searches/uploads and manage electronic document systems (internal NetDocs or similar);
  • Handle litigation secretarial duties and calendaring for multiple attorneys; manage and track case deadlines and attorney schedules.
  • Proofread and format pleadings, Table of Authorities/Table of Contents, and other court-ready documents.
  • Provide high-level trial support when needed.
  • Perform administrative tasks integral to the role (saving and organizing files, document naming, clinic-style support) and assist colleagues as part of a cross-functional paralegal team.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certificate (mandatory — candidates without certification will not be considered).
  • Minimum 7+ years’ paralegal experience in litigation; 10+ years preferred, with demonstrated employment litigation experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple attorneys’ calendars and multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of court rules, filing procedures, and litigation workflows.
  • Solid experience with e-discovery, document productions, privilege logs, and trial preparation.
  • Experience with Westlaw and/or LexisNexis required; familiarity with internal document management systems (e.g., NetDocs) and billing software (e.g., COYOTE) is a plus.
  • Excellent proofreading and writing skills, strong attention to detail, and high organizational ability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word (intermediate to advanced), Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to perform both substantive paralegal work and administrative tasks.
  • PLUS SKILL - Trial experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rapid ramp-up ability and comfort stepping into matters immediately to alleviate team workload.
  • Comfortable both with detailed administrative tasks (calendaring, document organization) and higher-level substantive litigation work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to cross-cover for colleagues across West and East Coast teams.
