Role Overview
As a Paralegal at Sheeley LLP, you will work closely with attorneys and support staff to provide essential legal and administrative assistance. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing complex processes, and is comfortable balancing multiple priorities with a high level of discretion and precision.
Key Responsibilities
· Draft, proofread, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and contracts.
· Manage case files and ensure accurate document organization, retrieval, and archiving.
· Conduct legal and factual research to support active matters.
· Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and responses.
· Coordinate and summarize medical records, deposition transcripts, and other case evidence.
· Receipt and Review of Medical Authorizations (HIPAA) for accuracy and completeness.
· Preparation of Letters to Request Medical Records from Medical Providers and use of Third Party medical records retrieval services.
· Creating a Log of all Authorizations and Records requested.
· Liaise with clients, experts, and courts on behalf of attorneys.
· Support attorneys with trial preparation and administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
· Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Minimum 4+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm or legal department.
· Strong understanding of court procedures and legal terminology.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal management software (e.g., Centerbase, Clio, or similar).
· Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadlines.
