Ascendo Resources is partnering with a reputable law firm client that is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join their Professional Negligence and Product Liability Defense practice group.
This position will be hybrid – 3 days in office after a training period.
Responsibilities:
• Review, organize, index, and summarize extensive medical records and billing documentation for complex malpractice cases
• Support attorneys throughout the full lifecycle of litigation — from initial filing through trial and appeal
• Draft client correspondence and assist with the preparation of pleadings and discovery materials
• Compile and organize documents for production
• Coordinate with clients, witnesses, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel to schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial dates
• Provide hands-on trial support, including electronic presentations, exhibit management, and witness coordination
• Conduct investigative research using a variety of resources
• Assist with expert witness retention, record preparation, and trial readiness
• Handle electronic filings in state and federal courts
• Support attorneys on medical board matters, subpoena responses, and related legal tasks
Requirements:
• At least 3 years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or medical malpractice within a law firm setting
• Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Paralegal certificate a plus
• Background in nursing or healthcare is highly desirable
• Trial experience strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with iManage is a bonus
• Experience with legal time and billing software
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
