Litigation Attorney

Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 1–5 years of general civil litigation experience to join its team in Napa, California. The ideal candidate will have experience in business, environmental, and real property litigation. Experience in land use, trust, or estate litigation is a plus but not required.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative legal environment handling a variety of litigation matters while gaining increasing levels of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle general civil litigation matters from case initiation through resolution
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and legal correspondence
• Conduct legal research and case analysis
• Manage and analyze large volumes of legal documents and client communications
• Participate in case strategy, hearings, and trial preparation
• Maintain regular communication with clients and internal teams
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas
• Manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
• 1–5 years of litigation experience, preferably in California
• Active California Bar license preferred
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
• Ability to interpret complex legal documents and case materials
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize tasks effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Skills

• Experience with business litigation
• Experience with environmental or real property litigation
• Exposure to land use, trust, or estate litigation
• Familiarity with document management systems such as iManage

Technical Skills

• Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Legal research tools and litigation software (preferred)

Compensation

• Base Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 annually
• Performance Bonuses: Monthly billable-hour bonuses may increase annual earnings by $24,000–$60,000 depending on billable hours and performance.
• Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
