Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail oriented Legal Billing Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the firm’s billing department. This individual will be responsible for supervising billing staff, managing the legal billing process, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing, and maintaining compliance with client billing guidelines and firm policies.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive legal billing experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast paced law firm environment while supporting attorneys, clients, and internal accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the daily operations of the legal billing team
  • Review, edit, and finalize client invoices while ensuring billing accuracy and compliance with client guidelines
  • Oversee prebill review processes, billing adjustments, write offs, transfers, and invoice approvals
  • Monitor billing workflows and ensure timely submission of invoices and electronic billing files
  • Assist billing staff with resolving complex billing issues, invoice discrepancies, and client inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with outside counsel billing requirements and E Billing platform standards
  • Collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, finance teams, and clients regarding billing matters and account status
  • Generate and analyze billing reports, accounts receivable reports, and revenue metrics for management
  • Support month end and year end billing close processes
  • Train, mentor, and develop billing staff while promoting process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Assist with collections follow up and aged accounts receivable management as needed
  • Maintain accurate client matter information and billing records within the billing system
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing procedures, reporting, and workflow efficiencies
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive client and financial information

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal billing experience required
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience within a legal billing environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of legal billing procedures, E Billing platforms, accounts receivable, and client billing guidelines
  • Experience with Aderant, Elite, or 3E billing software required
  • Aderant or 3E/Elite billing software experience highly desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Experience supporting large law firm billing operations
  • Experience with revenue reporting and billing analytics
